Thank you for everybody that came out for OnGrid ShootOut primer and helping raise money for On Grid for Charity. Over the 2 days, our competitors fought off the scorching heat to put down the fastest lap they could at Willow Springs International Raceways Big Willow track. Big Willow is the fastest road of the west and not for the faint of heart.

OnGrid ShootOut - Time Attack Rules


 GENERAL RULES

 General Rules applying to all classes. 

 1     CLASSING / TEAMS

  1. Any competitor is subject to approval and the club reserves the right to disqualify any competitor or vehicle for any reason.

  2. Any modification to a competitor’s vehicle must be allowed within said class and the rule book along with the CCR. If you have any questions, please email race@ongridtrack.com.

  3. The same car may not be used for multiple entries in the same class, unless approved by an OnGrid Race Steward prior to the event.

  4. Registered teams may have multiple drivers for the same car, but all times will be considered as a singular entry. All drivers must be registered under the team’s name and each driver must have filled out all the appropriate paperwork and waivers.

  5. Teams may only use 1 vehicle for competition.

  6. Teams will not receive any additional track time regardless of how many drivers they have registered.

  7. Times from vehicles not registered for OnGrid ShootOut will not be counted.

  8. Drivers/Teams must follow the rules found in the OnGrid CCR.

  9. OnGrid Race Steward may re-class any vehicle if the vehicle greatly exceeds its classes performance capability.

2     CHASSIS / AERO

  1. Competing vehicles must be from a recognized manufacturer and have been mass produced for the general public with a VIN#.

  2. Low volume production cars, open wheel vehicles, club racers and race cars that are made street legal are not allowed to compete. (BAC Mono, Ultimate GTR, Factory 5 818, Radical RXC, ETC)

  3. Full tube chassis are not allowed unless part of the OEM chassis have been cleared by an OnGrid Race Steward prior to the event.

  4. Vehicles must resemble their stock body by keeping true to the original outline and overall body shape.

3     ENGINE / DRIVETRAIN

  1. One internal combustion engine is allowed per vehicle.

  2. Electric vehicles base class is TOURING.

4     SUSPENTION / TIRES

  1. Any competitors tire must be readily available to other racers for purchase. If the tire is not readily available, the competitor is disqualified.

  2. Top portion of the tire must fit underneath the fenders and not be viewable from directly above

5     INTERIOR / SAFETY/ MISC

  1. Although the maximum safety equipment is strongly suggested, it is not required for SPORT or TOURING classes. Any competitors racing in GT or Race class must at bare minimum have a 4-point roll bar. Vehicles without these minimum standards must present their case to an OnGrid Race Steward and who will make a decision on approving the vehicle on a case by case basis.

  2. Brake lights must be fully operational in all classes. Center 3rd brake light may be removed in GT and RACE.

  3. Head and neck restraints are mandatory for RACE class, and highly recommended for every other class.

  4. All competing vehicles must pass onsite inspection by an OnGrid Race Steward or have been inspected by an OnGrid approved shop prior to the event.

  5. OnGrid Race Stewards may inspect competitors’ vehicles at any time to ensure vehicle complies to the rules and safety standards.

  6. All vehicles must have a front and rear tow hooks or straps.

  7. Competitors must run any and all decals required by OnGrid organizers.


 SPORT

 1      CHASSIS / AERO

  1. Cars must keep stock chassis with no modifications. No aftermarket tubular or carbon chassis components allowed.

  2. No Aftermarket subframes are permitted.

  3. The shock tower may be modified only to allow the installation of camber/caster plates and only such as required to obtain the necessary camber and caster.

  4. Hood, Front Fenders, Trunk and Hard Tops may be replaced with alternate materials. Replacement parts must be an OEM or OEM like replica that does not improve aerodynamics or allow greater clearance for tires.

  5. Doors, roof, rear fenders, and quarter panels must be OEM material.

  6. Only aftermarket aero allowed is bolt on lips and OEM/Factory Optional aero. Replica aero of OEM/Factory Optional aero is allowed.

  7. Aftermarket flat bottoms are prohibited

  8. Replacement of factory glass with Lexan or other materials is prohibited. Aftermarket hardtops, that do not have glass as an option, may use Lexan.

2      ENGINE / DRIVETRAIN

  1. E85 and unleaded race fuel is permitted. No other alternative fuels are allowed.

  2. Nitrous is prohibited.

  3. Only swaps from the same manufacturer with the same number of cylinders, as OEM, are allowed.

  4. Naturally aspirated swaps must remain naturally aspirated.

  5. Naturally aspirated vehicles may not be converted to forced induction.

  6. Factory forced induction may not be modified. Compressor, turbine, housing, wastegate, and pulley must all be OEM.

  7. Dogbox and sequential transmissions are not allowed unless OEM.

  8. Drivetrain conversions are not permitted.

3      SUSPENSION / TIRES

  1. Maximum tire width: 265

  2. Tires must have a UTQG Rating of 200 or higher. BFGoodrich g-Force Rival S, Bridgestone Potenza RE-71R, and Yokohama Advan A052 are considered cheater tires and not permitted in SPORT class.

  3. Only single adjustable shocks/struts are permitted. OEM shocks may have more than single adjustment.

  4. Active suspension is prohibited. OEM active suspension is permitted.

  5. No aftermarket suspension components permitted unless stock geometry and readily available to the general public.

4      INTERIOR / SAFETY/ MISC

  1. Vehicles must keep OEM interior pieces and in their OEM positions. Interior pieces may only be removed or trimmed to accommodate safety equipment.

  2. Vehicles must retain heater core and have functional heater. A/C may be removed.

  3. Headlights, taillights, and mirrors must be present, in their OEM locations, and be in working order.

  4. No professional drivers allowed to compete in SPORT.


TOURING

1      CHASSIS / AERO

  1. Cars must keep stock chassis with no modifications. No aftermarket tubular or carbon chassis components allowed.

  2. No Aftermarket subframes are permitted.

  3. The shock tower may be modified only to allow the installation of camber/caster plates and only such as required to obtain the necessary camber and caster.

  4. Hood, Front Fenders, Trunk and Hard Tops may be replaced with alternate materials.

  5. Doors, roof, rear fenders, and quarter panels must be OEM material.

  6. The vehicles hood, front fenders, truck or hard top maybe substituted by a bolt on aftermarket piece.

  7. Front fenders may be trimmed or vented for aero.

  8. 3 inch splitter, that follows the silhouette of the bumper viewed from above, is allowed. Splitter may extend inwards until the centerline of the front wheels.

  9. Rear wing must be below roof line and not wider than the rear of the car.

  10. Diffuser may not go passed the edge of the rear bumper and may extend inwards until the centerline of the rear wheels.

  11. Barge boards may only protrude inward to the chassis pinch weld, and 3 inches outward when viewed from above, may only go forward and rearward to the inboard wheel openings.

  12. Aftermarket flat bottoms are prohibited.

  13. Replacement of factory glass with Lexan or other materials is prohibited. Aftermarket hardtops, that do not have glass as an option, may use Lexan.

  14. All glass roof panels or sunroofs may be replaced with alternate materials.

2      ENGINE / DRIVETRAIN

  1. E85 and unleaded race fuel is permitted. No other alternative fuels are allowed.

  2. Nitrous is prohibited.

  3. Engine swaps are permitted but must be from the same manufacturer as the vehicle.

  4. Engines can have upgraded internals but must be OEM displacement.

  5. Upgraded stock frame turbos and upgraded supercharger pulleys are permitted on engines with 5 cylinders or less. Engines with 6 or more cylinders may also run upgraded stock frame turbos and upgraded supercharger pulleys but may only use 91 octane.

  6. Naturally aspirated 4-cylinder engines may be converted to forced induction.

  7. Dogbox and sequential transmissions are not allowed unless OEM.

  8. Drivetrain conversions are not permitted.

3      SUSPENSION / TIRES

  1. Maximum tire width: 285, or any OEM tire width size offered for your chassis.

  2. Tires must have a UTQG Rating of 200 or higher.

  3. Shocks/Struts may have up to 2 adjustments. OEM shocks may have more than 2 adjustments.

  4. Active suspension is prohibited. OEM active suspension is permitted. 

  5. No aftermarket suspension components permitted unless stock geometry and readily available to the general public.

4      INTERIOR / SAFETY/ MISC

  1. Vehicles must keep OEM interior pieces and in their OEM positions. Interior pieces may only be removed or trimmed to accommodate safety equipment.

  2. Vehicles must retain heater core and have functional heater. A/C may be removed.

  3. Vehicles must have headlights, taillights and mirrors in the OEM location. Taillights and mirrors must be in working order.


 GT

 1      CHASSIS / AERO

  1. Cars must keep stock chassis with no modifications. No aftermarket tubular or carbon chassis components allowed. Seam welding is permitted.

  2. Hood, Trunk, Roof, & Fenders and Hard Tops may be replaced with alternate materials. Front doors may only be replaced if door bars extending from the cage are present.

  3. 4 point roll bar, or greater, is required.

  4. 5 inch splitter, that follows the silhouette of the bumper viewed from above, is allowed. Splitter may extend inwards until the centerline of the front wheels.

  5. No more than 4 canards are permitted. Canards must be no more than 5 inches from the silhouette of the car viewed from above.

  6. Rear wing must be below roof line and not wider than the total factory width of the vehicle, from side mirror to side mirror. Hatchbacks and station wagons may have rear wings 4 inches higher than their roof line.

  7. Diffuser may not go further than 5 inches passed the edge of the rear bumper and may extend inwards until the centerline of the rear wheels.

  8. Aftermarket flat bottoms are prohibited.

  9. Front windshield must remain OEM glass, but all other glass may be replaced with Lexan

2      ENGINE / DRIVETRAIN

  1. E85, unleaded, and leaded race fuel is permitted. No other alternative fuels are allowed.

  2. Nitrous is prohibited.

  3. Engine swaps are permitted but forced induction is prohibited if more than 2 cylinders are added from OEM. 2 rotor engines are considered the equivalent of having 4 cylinders.

  4. Engine swaps must be in the OEM location.

  5. Dogbox and sequential transmissions are not allowed unless OEM.

  6. Drivetrain must remain in the OEM configuration.

3      SUSPENSION / TIRES

  1. Maximum tire width: 315, or any OEM tire width size offered for your chassis.

  2. Tires must have a UTQG Rating of 100 or higher.

  3. Shocks/Struts may have up to 3 adjustments. OEM shocks may have more than 3 adjustments.

  4. Active suspension is prohibited. OEM active suspension is permitted. 

4      INTERIOR / SAFETY/ MISC

  1. Vehicles must have their OEM dash panel. Dash panel may be trimmed in order to fit safety equipment.

  2. OEM doors may be gutted if door bars extending from the cage are present.

  3. Vehicles must have a 5 pound, or greater, fire extinguisher within the driver's reach or fire suppression system.


 RACE

 1      CHASSIS / AERO

  1. Cars must keep stock chassis but may have tubular front and rear ends.

  2. 4 point roll bar, or greater, is required.

  3. Front doors may only be replaced with alternate materials if door bars, extending from the cage, are present.

  4. Front windshield must be present. Lexan that is 3/16” or thicker may be used instead of glass.

 2      ENGINE / DRIVETRAIN

  1. E85, unleaded, and leaded race fuel is permitted. No other alternative fuels are allowed.

  2. Nitrous is prohibited.

  3. No restrictions to engine swaps.

  4. Engines may be relocated.

  5. Dogbox and sequential transmissions are permitted.

  6. Drivetrain layouts may be changed.

3      SUSPENSION / TIRES

  1. No tire width restrictions.

  2. Tires must have a UTQG Rating of 40 or higher.

  3. Shock/Struts have no restrictions.

4      INTERIOR / MISC

  1. Vehicles must have their OEM dash panel. Dash panel may be trimmed in order to fit safety equipment.

  2. OEM doors may be gutted if door bars extending from the cage are present.

  3. Must have front and rear tow hooks.

  4. Vehicles must have a 5 pound, or greater, fire extinguisher within the driver's reach or fire suppression system.
